Toyota to launch new Corolla altis in India

NEW COROLLA ALTIS

Finally your wait for the new corolla will be soon over. Toyota has been delaying the new generation Corolla in India for sometime and invited rant reviews from Indian customers. The tenth generation Corolla made its international debut in October 2006. However the story will be soon over, Toyota will launch the car in September.

To be christened as Corolla altis in India the car will spearhead the second beginning for Toyota in India. The new corolla altis is a dramatic departure from the succession of dull, anonymously styled models as it borrows styling cues from the Camry.

The 2008 corolla Altis will be 10mm longer, 60mm wider and 20mm lower than the current model. The wheelbase will be unchanged at 2,600mm, but with the wider track and lower center of gravity the handling should be noticeably improved. The extra width should also improve cabin space, and although slightly lower, the Altis is still 50mm taller than the Civic. The new corolla altis will be powered by a 1.8L engine developing around 140bhp. This engine is a carryover from the existing corolla but will be tweaked for better performance. A four speed auto box will be offered as optional. However the new coroll altis won’t come with diesel engine atleast initially.

The bookings for the new corolla altis has started and you can book the car by paying Rs2 lakhs in chennai. The new corolla altis will be available for display in showrooms from third week of August and the official launch would happen sometime in september. The new corolla altis will be priced around Rs13 lakh.

Suzuki to Launch Lanza 150cc VERY SOON

SUZUKI'S LANZA 150CC

Mr. Atul Gupta, the vice-president of sales and marketing of Suzuki revealed the fact that the company will launch a 150cc premium bike within March 2009. The new bike will be named Lanza and it is estimated to have atleast a power of 15bhp. Lanza will compete with other high end bikes in India and hence will be equipped with 6 speed gear box and digital consoles.

Just like Yamaha cloned the design of R1 and introduced as R15… there is a good chance that Suzuki will clone it’s higher end model which is successful in foreign countries. Here is a picture of Suzuki higher end Lanza R G5x.

HONDA LAUNCHING NEW BIKES WITH IN INDIA

Honda CBR 150R

Yamaha and Suzuki have had more exposure than any other bike company in India because of the launch of FZ16and R15 from Yamaha and GS150R from Suzuki. But Hero Honda and Honda are busy stickering up their bikes. New CBZXTREME, New Passion Pro are both just sticker upgrades and has no change in the engine or performance, which seems to be quite lame. And many Indian bikers got disappointed with the launch of HONDA UNICORN Grand Prix edition, another sticker work, which is not so good looking and gives an idea that Honda is just trying to catch up in the two-wheeler market.

Will Honda susprise us in 2009? I am also a fan of Honda cars and I feel that Honda is not intimidated by the bike launches from Yamaha and Suzuki. The people at Hondas may have something bigger in store for us and are waiting for the right time, I guess. Now, Introduce yourself to Honda CBR 150R!

The CBR series of bikes from Honda is more than just a famous brand name. Now with the launch of YAMAHA R15, India is in need for competing sports bikes with latest technology. This may lead to Honda bringing the CBR 150R to India. This bike is far more technologically advanced than the R15 and is a real sports bike, not a sporty looking bike! Anyway this is not a news, but just a speculation. Stay tuned for more bike news.

Honda launches new 125 cc sports bike

Aiming to sell 10 lakh units in the current fiscal, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India on Monday launched its new 125 cc sports bike in the country priced between Rs 47,070 and Rs 51,655 (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).

"We plan to achieve a sale of one million units in the current fiscal and the launch of this new bike will help us in materialising this target," HMSI Pvt Ltd Divisional Head (Sales and Marketing) N K Rattan said in New Delhi.

"We plan to sell 80,000 units of the new bike, CBF Stunner, in this fiscal," he added.
The company had recorded sales of 9.07 lakh units in the previous fiscal.

In the current fiscal year, the firm targets to sell three lakh motorcycles and seven lakh scooters, he added.

HMSI had earlier announced to set up a new manufacturing facility, but it has now decided to go slow on this front.

"Currently, our production capacity is of 1.2 million units, but it can be stretched up to 1.35 million units. So we can avail of this facility for the next 2-3 years. As of now, we do not have any plans to set up a new facility," he said.

Besides the new bike, the company plans to launch two new models this year.

"There will be one or two more new launches in this financial year. We also expect our bikes above the 800 cc category to launch in FY'09, which will be priced above Rs 10 lakh," Rattan said.

The company would import these high performance bikes as a completely built unit, he added.

HERO HONDA TO LAUNCH TWO NEW MODELS

NEW DELHI: India's biggest motorcycle maker, Hero Honda Motors, will launch two new models in the new fiscal year that begins in April to boost its sales growth in the world's second-largest motorcycle market, an official said on Thursday.

"One of them will be launched in October-November and another one in February-March 2005. Both of them will have ENGINE capacity greater than 100 cc," Ravi Sud, Vice-President, Finance, told.

Over 70 per cent of the motorcycles sold in India, a market of 4.3 million units a year, have engine capacity of 100 cc. New model launches are keys to driving sales in the country.

Hero Honda, in which India's Munjal family and Japan's Honda Motor Co each hold 26 per cent stakes, makes nine models and has a dominating 48.5 per cent share of the INDIAN MORORCYLCES MArket, the world's biggest after China.

The automaker, which mainly competes with second-ranked Bajaj Auto and third-placed TVS Motor, introduced five new models and variants in the current fiscal year to March 31. That helped propel sales 20.2 per cent in April-February to 1,877,976 BIKES, faster than industry growth of 14.1 per cent.

Sud expected the combined industry sales of two-wheelers, including scooters, motorcycles and MOPEDS, to rise by 11-12 per cent in 2004-05 and motorcycle industry sales to grow a little faster, by about 12 per cent.

He said the company had also boosted the combined production capacity at its two plants to 2.7 million units a year.
